Merry Christmas! OMG my waistline!

where-is-the-fat

Christmas day comes but once a year but sometimes it can be the start of some extremely bad eating and drinking habits.  I’m a bad one for temptation and you can normally get me with anything remotely sweet.  Cakes, chocolate, beer is just a few of the total utter crap I’ve consumed today.

While a traditional roast dinner isn’t that bad for you the portion size is probably big enough for your weekly calorie needs. It’s that point when your body says ‘don’t eat anymore’ but you shovel another few spoonfuls into your mouth.  It’s the extra the body really could do without that will really undo all your training in the past months.

What can you do about it?

  • As soon as the big day is over you should get back into your regular eating routine. Go back to your smaller portion sizes and drinking water (beer is really bad for the waistline) as soon as possible.
  • When you get back into your exercise routine make sure you don’t push yourself as hard as you did before Christmas.  Ease back into it, you don’t want to end up with an injury.
  • Motivate yourself and invite your mates out to exercise with you.
  • Get back into your routine.

Tomorrow I’ll start off with maybe 3km.  If after the first 3km I feel all right I’ll push myself to the next marker for me, 6km.
