Do you put sugar in your tea/coffee?

I never really thought about it until the other day when I saw a documentary about food and what we are consuming.  One teaspoon of sugar in your tea or coffee doesn’t seem like much at the time but it adds up.  Let’s do the maths.

If you have 3 cups of tea/coffee every day and have 1 teaspoon every cup:

3 x 7 = 21 (That’s 21 teaspoons in a week)

52 x 21 = 1092 (That’s 1092 teaspoons in a year)

Looking at it in larger volumes made me think is it really worth it.  If you think that each teaspoon of refined white sugar has about 20 calories you’d be adding over 21,000 calories to your diet every year.  If you work it out that for each 10km run you burn about 800 calories, you’d have to run approximately 250 x 10km runs within that year just to burn off the sugar in your tea.

So do you feel fat yet, I sure did after doing the math.
