Will Christopher Rice make it on YouTube?

Today I was surfing though YouTube and came across Christopher Rice who is a 21 year old singer song writer based in Litchfield Park, USA.  As I listened to his song titled ‘Tragic Castles’ it got me thinking about how YouTube has changed since I joined up almost five years ago.

When I first joined guys like Chris would quickly find it easy to get a fan base.  These days he’s buried deep inside a mix of cute viral cat videos and marines being kicked in the nuts.  Is it still possible to get your name out there? The easy answer is yes!   Record companies are constantly trolling the site looking for the next best thing so Chris has almost the same chance as everyone else.

The problem with most people who start posting on the site, they think that they can post videos and have instant fame.  Some people are lucky enough to rise high enough and get their YouTube fame but for others it takes a little hard work but it pays off in the end.

In an online chat Chris told me that he started posting his videos on YouTube to contribute to the online music community. He went on to say that he’d always had dreams of being a singer and this was a good way to get his songs out to the world.

I believe with a little persistence Christopher Rice will cross that divide into main stream independent music industry or pick up a recording contract.  I wish him the best of luck.
