PM signs off on ultrafast broadband.
Today John Key signed off on the rollout of superfast broadband. But will we ever see faster internet in New Zealand. Back in 2006 I made a video about the speed of the internet. I was still on a 128k up and 128k down internet plan so as you can imagine there were all sorts of entertainment opportunities I was missing out on. Today I’m getting still capped to 128k for my upload.
I’m looking forward to getting full speed internet at home but things like this take time. The first step has already started with Telecom company Chorus starting to lay fiber optic cables.
Some time ago a company laid fiber in the ground as they were launching some sort of TV, but nothing happened with that. Could these cables be used for internet?
