Movie Review: Up
Posted on September 11, 2009 by Matthew Richardson
Disney Pixar’s latest release promised a lot; an old man, a flying house, a talking dog, and kid in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sadly, I don’t think it delivered. Perhaps this was why we were the only two people in the theatre this evening.
The movie starts off with a young child watching a movie reel of a famous explorer and the adventures he has. The child is intrigued and goes off to ‘play’ adventurer where he meets a girl. The next 3 minutes shows him falling in love, marrying and growing up with the girl, before she dies. I personally found this all a bit too much for the first 5 minutes of the movie and thought kids wouldn’t understand a lot what just happened. Unfortunately this continues throughout the movie.
I thought most of the plot line wouldn’t make sense to children who went to see it. Sure they would love the talking dog, colourful bird and a house flying by the means of thousands of coloured baloons, but it just didnt gel for me.

I rated this 3 out of 5 popcorns
