Sugarloaf Scenic Reserve, Mt Cavendish.

4 July 2009 177 views No Comment

Today I’m in the hills south of Christchurch on the Sugarloaf Scenic Reserve. The view from the top of the hill was spectacular making it a great place to video blog about my travels. I left my friend Matt at the car and made my way to a rock I could hide behind.

Unfortunately because of the mild breeze some of the sound never made it. I rambled on about random topics obviously knowing very little about what I was talking about then decided to give up as the breeze turned into somewhat of a gal making it impossible to record anything with my small camera.

On the way down from the hills we caught up with one of TVNZ’s live broadcasting vans. We stalked it a little way down the road before heading east towards Mt Cavendish. If you’re not afraid of heights a short trip up the mountain in a gondeler makes for a good experience.

The trip up the hill takes about ten to fifteen minutes and on a day like today the view is remarkable. By the time Matt and I got to the top of the hill the gale had died back to only a breeze.

From the upper viewing platforms you get a bird’s eye view of Lyttelton a small fishing town with its own harbour. We’ll venture there later in another video.

Remember you too can experience the things you see in my videos, most of which are affordable for low and middle income earners and film students.
