Army medics train using staged wounds.

Medic looks after a Cadet who has been dressed with stage wounds.Last weekend down in the Franklin district the NZ Army reserve medics (1HST) conducted their monthly field exercise. They requested a couple of drivers from 1LogCoy so I went along to help.

Not being from the area the move from Arch Hill in Grey Lynn was somewhat interesting in the heavy rain.  I’d all ready been to our intended destination during the day so I knew roughly how I was to get there.

I was based at the makeshift head quarters and staging area where Army Cadets where dressed with their wounds.  It reminded me a little of the staging area used on some film sets I’ve been to.

The Cadets where made up and given their scenario to play out and then whisked away in the back of my truck to get treated.

Wile sitting eating MM’s in the cab of the truck I rested so I could safely drive back to HQ to pick up the next load of simulated patents.

This repeated for most of the weekend as the mini field hospital was packed up and moved to a new location throughout the weekend.

This is me! In my room before leaving. Movable field hospital set up under a cam net. A young Cadet waits for a medic to see to him.
This is what I woke up to in the morning at HQ! Now that looks fun to drive on! Inside of the LOV.
